Green Economy Development: A Study on the Bibit Indah and Mangrove Center (BISMA) Program
Abstract
The green economy provides a strategic approach to integrating economic development, environmental conservation, and community welfare in coastal areas. This study aims to examine how the BISMA Program (Bibit Indah and Mangrove Center) contributes to green economy development through sustainable mangrove resource utilization in Nelayan Indah Sub-district. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation, and analyzed using an interactive qualitative analysis model. The findings show that the program integrates mangrove conservation with community-based economic development through capacity building, livelihood diversification, and institutional strengthening. The Mawar Lestari Group experienced a 44.32% increase in average income, equivalent to Rp776,471 per member, alongside strengthened livelihood diversification and awareness of mangrove conservation. The program also contributed to stronger community institutions supporting local conservation and economic activities. These findings indicate that mangrove-based community development can support the transition toward a green economy by connecting ecosystem conservation, livelihood improvement, and community empowerment within corporate social responsibility initiatives.
